Megan Peasley, Iowa SourceLink program coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa's John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center, opened the webinar, described SourceLink's services and partner network, and introduced the Department of Revenue presenter, Kurt Connick.
Iowa SourceLink and the Iowa Department of Revenue hosted a recorded webinar in which Kurt Connick, Individual Income Tax Policy Director, summarized recent federal tax changes and how Iowa will (or will not) conform, explained updates to state forms and filing procedures, and answered common practitioner questions. Connick highlighted the new senior deduction (a $6,000 or $12,000 exemption for taxpayers 65 and older), the repeal of Iowa inheritance tax effective 01/01/2025, and several filing pitfalls to avoid (omitted POA, incorrect voucher dates, misreported estimated payments). Slides and a recording will be distributed to attendees and unanswered questions can be directed to Taxpayer Services via the contact information shared at the end of the webinar.
