The Oregon City Planning Commission held public hearings on a long-running variance (VR 99-07) for James McKnight (161 Barkley Ave) and continued a conditional-use review (CU01-02) for a proposed Amtrak station and parking. After public testimony and debate over LUBA's remand on two narrow issues (criterion C prong 2 and criterion F), the commission voted to deny the appeal and approve the variance, directing written findings to be prepared and returned at a date certain. The commission also set a date-certain continuance for the Amtrak conditional-use permit to September 24 and discussed traffic impacts and reuse of the old freight depot.
