Chair Rachel Abel called the regular Beverly Public Schools School Committee to order, noted the hybrid meeting format and read attendance: Mayor Mary Cahill, Kim Coelho, Jeffrey Silva, and Lorinda Visnick among others; Dr. Silva led the Pledge of Allegiance. The committee confirmed quorum and livestreaming via BevCam.
At the Nov. 12, 2025 Beverly Public Schools School Committee meeting, students and parents urged the district to create an LGBTQIA+ parent advisory council and called for independent review of student safety incidents; the superintendent pledged actions and the committee placed related items on next week’s agenda. The committee approved multiple routine and substantive items including an updated bullying prevention policy (JICFB), overnight field trips for sixth grade Nature’s Classroom and the Model UN at MIT, student activity accounts, grants totaling $26,500, and moved into executive session for collective bargaining. Several policies were reviewed for future votes and the superintendent highlighted professional development and state legal requirements regarding gender-identity protections.
