The Marquette City Commission held its annual organizational meeting Nov. 17, 2025. New and returning commissioners were sworn in, Paul Schlegel was elected mayor and Jeremy Otaway mayor pro tem, and commissioners heard repeated public pleas from Room at the Inn and unhoused residents to use the Baraga Gym (or other city facilities) as temporary winter overflow shelter; staff were directed to develop a recommendation.
