He explained the board's role reviewing land-use applications under the Pender County Unified Development Ordinance and set public comment limits (3 minutes individual, 5 minutes group).
The Pender County Planning Board held its December meeting, where members approved an administrative revision to the Lanes Ferry Landing master development plan with a condition allowing Phase 5 to be either multifamily (up to 205 units) or commercial (combined commercial for the project not to exceed 70,000 sq ft). Staff also recommended two zoning-text amendments to align local rules with new state statutes; both were forwarded to the county commissioners with the board's recommendation. The board adopted its 2026 meeting calendar and shortened individual public-comment time to two minutes.
