Chair Wendy Strack opened the meeting, announced the Board would immediately enter closed session to evaluate the executive officer's performance and that open session would resume after closed session. She reminded attendees that the Board's charge is consumer protection: “the protection of the public shall be paramount.”
The California Board of Behavioral Sciences met in-person and via WebEx on 2025-11-21. The board opened with a brief closed session, heard a wide-ranging executive officer report on budget, licensing and complaints, discussed a planned transition to the AMFTRB national MFT exam, considered requiring CE in perinatal/menopausal mental health, approved several regulatory and legislative actions (fee reductions, advertising statute cleanup, omnibus corrections), and received extended public comment on perinatal mental health and exam validity.
