Dallas Police Department held a press briefing about an officer-involved shooting on July 9, 2025, in the 3000 block of Fairview Avenue. The department said officers used pepper balls and tasers before an officer fired four times; the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Jake Miller, was transported to hospital and later died. The Dallas County District Attorney's Office and the Office of Community Police Oversight were notified and the department will release 911 audio and body-worn camera footage.
