Meeting opened with bilingual greetings and statement of purpose: a workshop on recreational vehicle (RV) rules and proposed zoning amendments. City of Opa-locka staff presented proposed amendments to zoning rules that would allow certain recreational vehicles to be parked on single-family (R-1) and duplex (R-2) lots under conditions including registration, annual inspection, a $150 city registration fee, a 35-foot length limit, prohibition on occupancy and utility hookups, and penalties for violations. Residents raised concerns about fees, inspections, property-rights and enforcement including cutting utilities; staff said a second reading is expected in February.
