Newcastle City Council held its first regular meeting of 2026 on Jan. 6. Council elected a new mayor and deputy mayor, approved an interlocal parks levy agreement with King County, heard a planning commission briefing on updated stream-buffer rules, discussed emergency generator bids and staffing needs, and received several public comments including requests on park funding and concerns about Flock Safety camera systems.
