Hawaii County Council met in Hilo on Jan. 7, 2026. The council honored the late Fire Chief Kazuo Todd with a condolence resolution, approved multiple small grants and nominations, adopted a county fire code update and emergency medical services funding, and postponed a debated land-use bill (Bill 63) after extensive testimony and an unsuccessful amendment vote.
