The Santa Monica Rent Control Board met Jan. 8, 2026. The board unanimously approved minutes and several routine owner-occupancy exemptions, affirmed two rent-decrease hearing officer decisions after tenant testimony and owner responses, approved a revised general counsel classification, formed a subcommittee to consider charter amendments for the 2026 ballot, and elected new chair and vice chair.
