Mayor Thomas Bureux reconvened the council from executive session and opened the regular meeting at 7:09 p.m.; he closed the work session and called the January 5, 2026 regular city council meeting to order.
Sanger City Council met Jan. 5, 2026. The council approved consent items including a 4% contract rate increase for Republic Services, a temporary concrete batch plant permit for Lane Ranch Phase 5, a downtown barbecue event permit allowing alcohol, and voted to call two related special elections on May 2, 2026, about creating a municipal development district and abolishing a current Type A sales tax if the MDD is approved. Mayor Thomas Bureux announced he will not seek re-election.
