The Portland Board of Public Education Policy Committee met online on Jan. 12, 2026, to review two draft policies: a new temperature-standards policy (ECC) required by state law and proposed updates to the gifted-students policy (IHBB) including a move toward universal Chapter 104 screening. Staff presented background, committee members raised questions about scope, implementation, costs and equity, and the committee requested revisions and additional information.
