The Fairbanks Historic Preservation Commission met on Jan. 2, 2026, reviewed three Section 106 consultation letters from the Alaska Department of Transportation; commissioners raised concerns about the Mini Street APE and treatment of the Slaterville neighborhood, asked for details on noise mitigation and screening at Pioneer Park, and requested additional cultural-resource surveys for the Elliott Highway Milepost 12–18 project. The commission approved the meeting agenda and agreed staff will forward comments to DOT; one commissioner said he may send a separate personal response.
