Chair (Senator Lee) opened the meeting, explained bills would be handed out to members and that today would be a high-level review; public testimony was not expected today but may be allowed at the special session. She asked for a volunteer to provide an overview of the four bills.
A Rural Health Transformation division met to review four draft bills ahead of the special session: a requirement for the Presidential Physical Fitness test in K–12 physical education; a 1-hour physician continuing-education requirement on nutrition and metabolic health; a physician assistant licensure compact; and expanded limited prescriptive authority and therapeutic substitution for pharmacists. The division discussed stakeholder concerns, potential amendments and the process for public hearings at the upcoming special session, and forwarded most drafts to the full committee for consideration.
