San Juan County commissioners discussed a proposed merger of the Monticello City Justice Court into county operations, including a draft contract that would route all fines/fees to the county, pay operating expenses first, and then split net revenue 70% county / 30% Monticello after expenses; commissioners and the city representative agreed in principle to the approach but requested contract edits and a budget amendment before formal approval. The commission also heard a presentation on an Economic Recovery Corps (ERC) housing project: Una Workabaugh said SIRDA (or the regional nonprofit partner) will be the project lead and invited county participation in a Feb. 13 housing roundtable; a NACo tour in March is being planned.
