Mayor Clement opened the meeting, welcomed attendees and invited two students from the Boys and Girls Club Youth Leadership Institute (Shaylee Martin and Nalaysha Wright) to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. The mayor previewed the evening's agenda including swearing in new council members and public hearings.
Southern Pines Town Council on Dec. 9, 2025 approved changes to its unified development ordinance to allow new "missing middle" single-family attached housing in targeted zones, adopted a budget amendment to buy Urban SDK traffic software, approved a Trimble Plant Road plan development with a 75-foot undisturbed buffer, and approved a small subdivision off Country Club Drive. Council also swore in two members and handled routine appointments.
