Chair Small called the meeting to order, ran roll call (members present noted) and confirmed a quorum. Chair outlined plan to return Secretary of State budget for review in catch-up cleanup and described approach to capture member flags for agency budgets; thanked staff and members for work. Motion/administrative direction to analysts to bring back flagged items for committee consideration was announced.
Appropriations & Finance committee heard budget presentations across agencies including Aging & Long-Term Services (New Mexico Care, Kiki Saavedra Fund), the Attorney General (consumer settlement fund / litigation priorities), Public Defenders (workload and contractor pay), the Judiciary (court budgets, judgeships, mandatory benefit cost pressures) and district attorneys (AODA IT/cybersecurity needs and local prosecutors' staffing). Committee adopted LFC recommendations for each agency with follow-up working groups and requests to return during catch-up/cleanup.
