Co-chairs John McFarland (SEG 009) and Will (SEG 011) and other Charter Review Commission members took the floor, said they worked with the National Civic League and offered to walk the commission through a redline of proposed charter edits; they asked the commission to guide the discussion. Decatur City Commission heard a two-hour presentation from the Charter Review Commission on proposed red-line revisions to the city charter — including changes to the preamble, definitions, election mechanics and an option to switch to a directly elected mayor — and then conducted routine business: adopted election-result resolutions, approved a school-related bond refunding that yields roughly $979,000 in debt-service savings, approved pedestrian-safety signal changes and a mural/marking contract downtown, and approved a Trees Atlanta planting agreement for West Howard Avenue. Public comment focused on resident parking enforcement in the Old Decatur Historic District.
