The Utah Geological Survey board met Jan. 21 for routine business and an extended director report focused on stabilizing the agency budget, staffing changes and hiring, proposal vetting, and several external engagement initiatives including a deep-drilling proposal for research near the Great Salt Lake, a dinosaur-themed license plate collaboration, university fellowships, and a planned field trip to southeastern Utah.
