Chair Supervisor Shamon Walton called the rules committee to order and Clerk Victor Young outlined public comment procedures, submission methods, and that items acted on are expected to appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda of Feb. 3, 2026.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rules Committee on Jan. 26, 2026 considered a charter amendment to convert the current two-consecutive-term limit for mayor and supervisors into a lifetime two-term limit and voted to forward the item to the full Board without recommendation after public comment and debate. The committee defeated an amendment to extend lifetime limits to all city elected offices and will place the primary measure on the June 2, 2026 ballot if advanced.
