Members of the Humboldt County Human Rights Commission met with community members and a guest from College of the Redwoods to discuss the commission’s role, community outreach strategies and improving collaboration among local nonprofits; participants identified barriers including fragmented nonprofit infrastructure, fundraising and insurance challenges and raised specific concerns about jail treatment of a transgender inmate.
