Miami Lakes Charter Review Commission met Feb. 12 to consider proposed charter amendments including reducing council seats from seven to five, changes to term lengths and transition timing, resign-to-run and vacancy rules, appointment/removal language for the town manager, designation of acting manager for temporary absence, and a proposal to have the town clerk appointed by the council. Public comment urged protecting citizens' rights and consideration of a ballot question on incorporation.
