Meeting opened; a participant identified as Manager Meg William asked whether the board will open a public hearing or consider a moratorium or ban on synthetic turf on Nantucket and was told the board will hold a special expert roundtable on March 2 at 2 p.m. to present evidence for and against synthetic turf. Chair and staff encouraged public attendance.
The Nantucket Board of Health met on Feb. 19, 2026. The board approved a variance allowing up to 19 bedrooms (with conditions) for a proposed 55+ cottage community, continued a public hearing on proposed Hammock Pond and wellhead protection regulations to March 19, scheduled a public hearing on short‑term rental rule amendments for March, heard an environmental contamination (PFAS) update and an opioid/high‑risk substances wastewater surveillance briefing, and approved a small loan request.
