Presiding judge called the Feb. 18, 2026 Harney County Court regular session to order, led the pledge and asked for agenda additions. A motion to approve the agenda was made and seconded and the court approved it by voice vote; no late items were added.
Harney County Court met Feb. 18, 2026. Commissioners heard an Opportunity Zones briefing from outside consultants, a long presentation and funding request from the Chamber of Commerce, a detailed jail renovation update with contractor schedule and funding sources, and debated a county transient lodging tax measure — ultimately voting to place a 6% tax on the primary ballot. The court also voted to pursue a county service district to fund wildlife services and directed staff to issue an RFQ/RFP to help prepare an Opportunity Zones nomination and investor incentive package.
