A California-area Indian Health Service work group and consultants kicked off a population study to produce a single user-population number to size two proposed regional specialty centers, identify data sources, and agree a schedule for a data request. Tribal providers raised major concerns that current IHS reporting and other systems substantially undercount urban Native populations, and the team agreed to pursue additional data sources and to seek IHS headquarters buy-in.
