The Maryland Senate Finance Committee held a full-day hearing ("alcohol day") on Feb. 20 covering nearly 100 alcohol-related bills, including a lengthy, contentious debate on Senate Bill 75 (allowing limited beer-and-wine sales in qualifying grocery stores). Lawmakers heard a mix of technical, local and statewide proposals, extensive industry testimony and many public comments for and against market-opening reforms.
