Chris Baldridge, the director of safety and risk management services for Salem Keizer Public Schools, described a new layered school-safety approach including a “digital fence,” vinyl window wraps, door alarms, and adjustable weapons-detection systems that all students and guests will be required to pass through. He said alerts will prompt quick, minimally intrusive checks by campus safety staff.
