The board certified the subjects discussed in closed session and adopted the closed-meeting certificate on a motion by Mrs. Hodges, seconded by Mr. Morgan; the clerk (Miss Lau) conducted roll call.
The Matthews County School Board met Nov. 18, 2025. The board approved a resolution allocating $89,047 toward two school resource officer positions after parents raised safety concerns following an Oct. 30 lockdown; the meeting also included presentations from WHRO, a proposal to upgrade school access control (Verkada), safety updates (weapons-detection machines, vape detectors, DCJS training) and discussion of VALS literacy screening data, finances, and athletics staffing.
