At the Feb. 19, 2026 Lucas City Council meeting, the council heard a detailed presentation from the city’s incoming director of public safety on plans, staffing and budget to stand up a Lucas Police Department; approved several routine and capital items including a $1,050,000 property purchase and multiple public-works contract authorizations; and discussed a comprehensive rewrite of the city sign ordinance.
