The Nacogdoches City Council held a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2024–25 budget that included staff presentations about major funds, a proposed 5.4–5.5% water and sewer rate increase and discussion of a fully burdened $200,000 chief-of-staff position. After public comment and staff explanations, the council voted unanimously to postpone final action on the budget until Sept. 17 to allow a rate-study workshop to conclude.
