At its Dec. 1, 2025 regular meeting, the West Jefferson Board of Aldermen swore in newly elected members, appointed Rusty Barr as mayor and Beth Shelton as mayor pro tem, approved a closure of a portion of West Fourth Street, accepted a $742,000 NCDEQ stormwater funding offer and authorized the town manager to sign, and heard multiple department and project updates including a $53 million GE Aviation investment in the town.
