At its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting in Clear Lake, the Deuel County Zoning Board held a joint public hearing on proposed zoning amendments for high-voltage transmission lines, debated moratoriums on data centers and power plants, approved an amendment to allow reduced setbacks for transmission lines with landowner permission, and imposed a one-year moratorium on public power plants while directing an environmental/community impact study.
