Sumter County Council on Aug. 26, 2025 approved a zoning amendment to allow civic and social organizations as a conditional use in Neighborhood Commercial (NC) zones, took first-reading action on revised private-roads policies (5–2), adopted a proclamation for National Emergency Preparedness Month and introduced the county's new emergency management director.
