The Houghton County Board of Commissioners met Aug. 12, 2025; a procedural dispute arose when Commissioner Joel Keranen said the meeting time had been changed without full-board approval and County Prosecutor Daniel Helmer warned that votes taken could implicate the state Open Meetings Act. The board verbally agreed to hold its August monthly meeting Aug. 15 at 2:00 p.m. and adjourned unanimously.
