At its May 23, 2024 regular session in Lake Andes, the Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved routine business including plats, two drainage permits, liquor-license renewals, personnel changes and a $3,500 law-enforcement contract with Pickstown; around 15 residents raised mixed views about hand-counting ballots and use of the tabulating machine during public comment. No formal policy changes or votes on election procedures were made.
