Lorain City Schools held a community town-hall to explain an urgent budget shortfall after state, federal and county funding changes and to solicit feedback on proposed cuts that would save about $16.6 million over two years, including possible elementary school consolidations and reductions to preschool and central-office staff. District leaders outlined timelines set by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and said the board will vote on an ODE plan the week after the meeting.
