Sumter County Council on May 28, 2024 approved its 2024–25 operating budget and several land-use items, cleared a $3.5 million capital bond, and gave first reading to a proposed 1% Capital Project Sales Tax referendum that would fund a $124.9 million project list. Council deferred a zoning-variance amendment for further staff work and voted down a motion to add two paralegals for the Solicitor.
