At the March 4, 2026 Torrington Board of Public Safety meeting, residents, union leaders and the fire and police chiefs pressed for increased staffing on the city’s East Side and for converting a volunteer station to a manned post; the board also approved two firefighter promotions and authorized a $45,027.69 camera contract for the police department, pending city council approval.
