The Oro Valley Town Council on Dec. 3, 2025 upheld a planning administrator's denial of a public-art proposal for a Surf Through Express Car Wash, finding the sculpture too closely tied to the business name and not meeting two of nine public-art criteria; the vote was 7-0. The council also elected Melanie Barrett as vice mayor (7-0), heard a police-union update on staffing and retention, and approved a process for hiring the town attorney (7-0).
