At its July 12, 2022 meeting, the Newton City Council unanimously denied a special-use permit for a proposed wedding and event center at 905 E. First St.; it also approved updates to the citys stormwater ordinance, an annexation agreement with the City of Hickory, and a consent agenda covering routine permits and property purchases.
