Mayor opened the Feb. 19, 2026 commission meeting, Reverend Arthur Lee of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church delivered the invocation, and the commission moved, seconded and unanimously adopted the printed and revised agenda.
Gainesville City Commission met Feb. 19, 2026. Major business included approval for the Gainesville Housing Authority to join a HUD Choice Neighborhoods implementation grant, a Parks & Recreation quarterly update, debate over proposed fencing at the GPD campus and rail-to-trail, a countywide bike-ped master plan briefing, a detailed housing update (Woodland Park, Jesse's Village, community land trust and surplus-lot discussion), and a motion to expand cold-night shelter partnerships. Several appointments and an ordinance (rezoning) passed unanimously.
