The Macon County Board of Commissioners met July 8, 2025, and voted unanimously to schedule a Sept. 9 public hearing on whether the county should assume direct control of the county health department; the meeting also approved several funding and contract items including library repairs, park design funds, and a $50,000 commitment to the Highlands playground project.
