The Maine Legislature Appropriations Committee considered emergency and procedural actions on two bills: LD 2059, an urgent funding request for public defender salaries, which the committee voted unanimously to take off the table and send back to the Senate; and LD 1997, a proposal to allow use of previously-authorized $205 million borrowing for additional court facilities, which the committee voted 7–5 to leave on the table after debate over emergency status and priorities.
