New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry presented a FY2027 budget proposing a $387.6 million operating budget, a $75.7 million capital budget, a 17.2% property tax increase and a 5% sewer consumption rate increase to close a roughly $42 million shortfall; council scheduled public budget hearings in April and May. Henry outlined cuts, hiring pauses and service priorities and urged council to consider the proposal at upcoming hearings.
