The City of Saint Augustine Architecture Review Board held an emergency meeting March 27 to review an emergency partial demolition recommendation for a structurally unsafe, historic building at 7 Aviles Street. Staff, the city building official, a structural engineer and the contractor described severe mortar and tie-back failure; the board recommended demolition of the front walls with conditions for salvage and archaeology.
