The City of San Marcos issued three proclamations: Mayor Jane Houston honored Officer Joyce Bender with a March 30, 2026 proclamation marking her retirement and service; the city proclaimed a Graduate Student Appreciation Week in April 2026 with remarks from Texas State University’s Graduate College; and the city joined the Lights Out Texas initiative, declaring April 1–June 7, 2026 lights-out hours (11 p.m.–6 a.m.) to reduce bird collisions.
