Christine Safrit, department director for Human Services and Rent Stabilization, introduced the department, said it has a budget of approximately $30 million and 29 staff, and described its dual mission: enforcing the Rent Stabilization Ordinance and providing social services and homelessness support to people who live, work, study or experience homelessness in West Hollywood.
City staff from West Hollywood presented an overview of the Human Services Division and the Rent Stabilization Division, describing contracted social-service programs, the new Holloway interim housing site, tenant protections under the Rent Stabilization Ordinance, and the city's inclusionary housing requirements. Staff answered questions about service providers, demographics, monitoring of inclusionary units, eviction protections and unit inspection.
