Montclair City Council held a regular meeting with opening invocation and pledge, public comments about a local giving-machine holiday drive and chamber events, promotions and hires in the fire and police departments, and a decision to continue first reading of an ordinance on oversized residential vehicles to the Dec. 1 meeting; the consent calendar was adopted and the council then recessed to closed session.
