Malden Mayor Gary Christenson delivered the 2026 State of the City at the Senior & Teen Center, outlining a budget under pressure, a proposed voluntary property tax override, affordability initiatives (residential tax exemption, community electricity), housing projects in the pipeline, infrastructure investments including a $10 million EPA lead-service-line grant, and new climate and community programs. City Council President Amanda Linehan and Superintendent Dr. Timothy Sipple also presented council priorities and the school district's strategic goals.
